Dolce Canto accepts singer auditions on a rolling basis. The ensemble currently presents two performances each season (April/May and November/December) and rehearses on a per project basis. This new model should allow participation not only for singers who reside in the immediate Missoula area, but also those singers living in other areas of western Montana and the surrounding states.  

Auditions are accepted on a rolling bases, but rosters are set a minimum of three months prior to each performance. To be considered for spring performances, auditions must be received by the last day of January, and for all winter performances, auditions must be received by the last day in August. Auditions received outside these windows may be considered for future projects.

Due to the high artistic values of the ensemble, our expectations are that prospective singers should:

• Positively contribute to the working environment of the choir. 

• Be fully prepared for every rehearsal and performance.

• Have experience with singing technique, music reading, stage presence, and artistic sensitivity.

• Display a high level of ensemble singing ability (precision, tone, pitch and expression).

To audition for the ensemble please fill out the audition form linked below. You will be asked to include the following materials directly in the form:

1. One or two audio or video recordings of an art song, aria, folk song, or a hymn of your choice, which demonstrates your vocal quality. Accompanied pieces are strongly encouraged.

2. A recording of your performance of the exercises listed on the “Dolce Canto Audition Exercises” document.
